Dear Bear Creek High School Families,

As the new principal of Bear Creek High School, I want to say thank you for very warm welcome as I step into this role. It is my sincere privilege to serve in this role and I cannot wait to continue our stellar momentum with the growth and success of this school. My goal this year is to continue to be visible and engaged with our incredible students and families. It’s been an honor and a pleasure to meet and know so many of you throughout my years at Bear Creek, and I look forward to your
continued feedback and support in our shared pursuit of excellence.

As we approach this year with renewed vigor, I would like to once again ask for your support in helping us address the issue of attendance. We are proud to say that our attendance rates at Bear Creek have been steadily increasing-year-over year. However, it still remains one of the most crucial factors in determining all student’s short term and long term success. Even missing two days a month can severely impact a student’s academic ability over the course of high school. The best way you can help your student is to make sure that they attend school on-time, they arrive to classes on-time, and they attend school as often as possible.

Please also remember that we offer many options for support when students need help. From BC Prep on Thursdays, to Connections on Wednesdays, to the Bear Den Tutoring Center, which is open every day, all day; we are happy and excited to help our Bears! So, if you need support, please talk to your teachers, your counselors, and your admin, and let’s work together to help our students succeed.

As we continue forward into this promising academic year, I am excited about the opportunities that lie ahead. Bear Creek High School is poised for even greater achievements, and I am confident that, together, we can continue to raise the bar of excellence. Our goals for the upcoming year continue to center around increasing student achievement, engagement, and feelings of belonging. We can’t
wait to get to work and we are grateful for your partnership. I look forward to working closely with each of you and making every day the best it can possibly be.

Please know that I am here to serve you and your student, please feel free to contact me with questions or needs.

Respectfully,

Jose Martinez
Principal
