Dear Bear Creek High School Parents,

As the principal at Bear Creek, I want to express my gratitude for the warm welcome I have received since joining the Bear Creek High School community. It is a privilege to serve as your principal, and I am committed to ensuring the continued growth and success of our school. As part of my vision for the coming year, I plan to be highly visible and actively engage with both students and parents. I encourage each of you and your students to say hello and join me in our shared pursuit of excellence.

Also, I kindly ask for your help in addressing an issue that adversely affects academic performance: our attendance rate. Last year, we observed a significant number of students missing classes and coming late to class (especially first thing in the morning and after lunch), which has a profound impact on their academic achievements. Research consistently shows that students who miss just two days per month experience a dramatic decline in their grades. Even if your child claims, "we are not even doing anything in class today, so it's okay if I miss," (which I am sure is not entirely accurate), I urge you to encourage them to attend school regularly.

As we continue forward into this promising academic year, I am excited about the opportunities that lie ahead. Bear Creek High School is poised for even greater achievements, and I am confident that, together, we can continue to raise the bar of excellence.

Thank you for your unwavering support. I look forward to working closely with each of you and witnessing the growth and success of our remarkable students.

Warm regards,

Shannon Vigil
Principal, Bear Creek
